Most children's homes end their responsibility at eighteen. At Great Commission Ministries, it is where the commitment continues.
Aftercare
GCM's responsibility does not end at eighteen. Graduates remain under our care while pursuing degrees in the city. Alumni stay in contact, return to speak to current children, and in several cases now give back financially.
When Soni, a daughter of the home, married in September 2025, GCM planned and conducted the entire wedding, with government officials attending alongside GCM leadership to affirm the marriage legally.
It is a small detail with a large meaning: for a child who arrived with no family to speak of, GCM stood in as one — from her first day at Ashir Children's Home to the day she was given away in marriage.
This is one of GCM's clearest differences from other children's homes serving the same communities — not because the early years of care are unusual, but because the commitment does not expire when a birth certificate says eighteen.
